CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION Position Description - Technical Director

Summary: The Technical Director is responsible for the implementation and growth of the technical programs of the CBS Soccer Association and the growth of the technical skills of players and coaches of the Association. The Technical Director reports to the General Manager of the Association, coordinates and recruits coaches any technical staff hired by the Association and implements the technical portion of the Associations’ Strategic Plan.
Roles and Responsibilities
Players Development: • Support coaches and managers. The Technical Director recruits, assigns and supports coaches and team staff; • Manage Association technical events - tryouts, camps, coach training and special player development programming; • Develop and implement comprehensive player development pathways for all age groups and monitor/support the progress of players and teams. • Foster a culture of open communication where players receive constructive feedback from coaches and are encouraged to set and work towards personal goals.
Coaches Development: Train and mentor coaches to maintain high coaching standards. Identify promising coaching talent and recruit experienced coaches for the Association’s programs who align with the Club’s coaching philosophy. • Support and promote coaches coaching certifications and attending coaching clinics to stay up to date with the latest coaching methodologies. • Implement events for coaches such as workshops, webinars • Create a Club game and training model. • Foster a positive, learning-focused and collaborative coaching environment that aligns with modern coaching methodologies. Ensure that all coaching activities adhere to safety protocols and regulations (Safe Sport) as prescribed by the NLSA and CSA. Clubs Development (technical areas only): • Develop strong relationships and be visible (attend games, meetings, etc.) with technical staff in club members.
Technical Programs Administration:
• Be the point of contact for the technical programs governing bodies/committees. • Under the guidance of the General Manager, represent the Association at league, provincial technical events and develop relationships with technical peers in clubs within the region and province. • Works with the General Manager to develop and maintain a volunteer recruitment plan to support the delivery of Club technical programs. Safety, Diversity and Accessibility in CBS Soccer Technical Programs. • Expand the access to soccer to a diverse range of people. • Lead/Establish a positive, safe, healthy corporate/team environment that is conducive to high morale and satisfactory interaction between all employees, members, coaches and players (Safe Sport). • Develop and manage a strategy to support coaches and players from equity-priority groups (e.g. women, LGBTQIA2S, visible minorities, Indigenous, etc.) across all technical programs.
Qualifications • Preference will be given to candidates that possess a minimum National B license. • Preference will be given to individuals with 5 years coaching experience. • Experience managing, mentoring and motivating coaches. • Ability to align annual operating plans to broader club strategic plan. • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical planning to non technical stakeholders, including parents. • Strong use of various software programs including MS Office. • Valid drivers’ license • A criminal record check with vulnerable sector search • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
